Other Actions You Can Take
The vast majority of us in
the Lyme community are aware that there exists extreme controversy in
regards to the most effective way to diagnose and/or treat Lyme Borreliosis.
Most patients are keenly aware of how much better they feel after continued
therapy for Borreliosis. We believe that in large part Dr. Jones is
really being investigated because he diagnoses and treats Lyme based
on his years of clinical experience and not relying on the IDSA rules.
In fact, it appears that many medical boards around the country are
attacking Lyme physicians that treat longer term. This has to stop.
Together we can put an end to this senseless mission.
1. You may write letters
in support of Dr. Jones if your child has been treated by him.
It is important in all of your correspondence to be balanced, articulate
and factual. Hostility though understandable will not help our case..
These letters (not
emails) should go directly to him. Send all letters to:
Charles Ray Jones, MD
Madison Towers
111 Park Street, 1st Floor
New Haven, CT 06511
In these letters please describe
your circumstances and how Dr. Jones has helped you. Tell them if your
child was misdiagnosed by other doctors and if your child improved under
Dr. Jones care. If he was compassionate, generous, and care, let them
know. If your child responded to longer term protocols, let them
know. Include comments about your child's health then compared
to now. It would be helpful to talk about your experience with other
doctors but please do not mention names. (Remember that ANY LETTERS YOU
WRITE MAY BECOME PART OF PUBLIC RECORD.)
2. If you live in Connecticut,
contact the governor. You may contact the governor via phone,
letter or email. It is important that you alert the governor to the
impending health crisis in Connecticut. Over 10,000 Lyme patients are
at risk for losing their doctor. This is not a small thing. Specifically
tell the governor there are two standards of care for Lyme and that
you as a patient (or the parent of a patient) have a right to choose
which one your child receives. If you write, attach a picture of your
child (if he or she has Lyme disease ) to your letter. This is also
a great time for you to contact your state legislators or the Attorney
General.

4. You may also write
letters to the newspapers and to anyone else you feel would be interested
and concerned with this health crisis. Specifically, remember to talk
about the two standards of care and your right to choose that which
is best for you. Also mention the fact that the leading pediatrician
in Connecticut who treats Lyme disease is under investigation
and how the loss of his license could be detrimental to so many in our
state and throughout the nation.
